FlashBlock
Spaced repetition that blocks your tabs until you've studied.
Available · v1.5.5 · Firefox
A spaced-repetition study tool for Firefox. When cards are due, a review session blocks every tab until you clear the queue — so studying happens before the day gets away from you.
How the study gate works
FlashBlock is built around one idea: the moment you mean to study is rarely the moment that arrives. So when your cards come due, FlashBlock turns the thing you were about to do into the study prompt. A review session drops over your tabs and stays there — across every tab — until you clear the due queue.
It isn't a lock screen or a website blocker. The block is the review: you answer your due cards, FlashBlock schedules each one for its next interval, and the gate lifts. Not the right moment? Snooze the session and it steps aside for a while. Studying happens because it's in the way, not because you remembered to open an app.

Permissions, explained
Firefox asks you to approve two permissions when you install FlashBlock. Here's exactly what each one is for.
-
Access browser tabs
To show the review overlay in whichever tab you're looking at when cards come due.
-
Access your data for all websites
Only to draw the study overlay on top of the current page. FlashBlock never reads, stores, or transmits the content of the pages you visit.
Start studying before the day gets away.
FlashBlock is free on the Firefox Add-ons store. Firefox only for now.
